BUDDING young engineers from South Craven School at Cross Hills have won through to the national finals of a robotics challenge.

‘Team Brickaneers’ were crowned regional winner of the Tomorrow’s Engineers EEP Robotics Challenge.

Team members Jack Hodge, Adam Edwards, Sasha Davies, Rory Pengelly, Jonathan Bownass, Will Barnes and Samuel Leray-Field had to complete a range of tasks in the regional heat, at Blackpool and Fylde College.

As part of their entry, the youngsters devised an automated recycling centre manned by robots – even creating a digital model of the proposed site.

The team achieved the highest score of any school.
