Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in the early hours of Saturday morning.

At around 3.15am on Saturday officers were called to a report of a single vehicle collision on B6108 Huddersfield Road, between Netherton and Meltham, Huddersfield.

A white BMW Coupe car was travelling in the direction of Meltham when it collided with a wall at the junction of Crossland Spring Road.

A passenger in the vehicle, a woman in her 20s, was fatally injured in the collision.

A man in his 20s, who was also a passenger in the vehicle, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver, a man in his 20s, sustained minor injuries. He was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving whilst over the limit. He has now been released under investigation pending continuing enquiries.

Officers in the Major Collision Enquiry Team are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to contact officers.

Police would also like to hear from anyone who saw the vehicle driving in the area prior to the collision.
