A FORMER Bradford Grammar School pupil, who is now the Chief Executive of airline Loganair, has spoken after his company announced plans to take on 16 routes operated by Flybe, the airline which filed for administration and collapsed on 5 March.

Jonathan Hinkles, who attended Bradford Grammar from 1983 to 1993, appeared on BBC Breakfast this morning, following news that Loganair will be adding nearly 400 new flights each week after Flybe's demise, and has also opened a recruitment line for former Flybe employees.

The Scottish regional airline will be recruiting pilots, cabin crew and engineers, expecting to create 100 new positions at its four locations, prioritising applications from former Flybe staff.

Mr. Hinkles said, "The collapse of a long-standing airline like Flybe marks a desperately sad day, especially for the airline's dedicated team of employees and for customers facing disruption to their journeys.

"Loganair is aiming to maintain essential air connectivity within the UK regions to keep customers flying, and to offer new employment to former Flybe staff members who are facing an uncertain future."
