TIME is running out to sign up for the Epilepsy Action Bradford 10k which takes place on Sunday.

People can still enter the race, which starts and finishes in Centenary Square, until the end of Wednesday, March 11, subject to places being available.

Now in its 13th year, the Epilepsy Action Bradford 10k marks a major date in Yorkshire’s athletics calendar.

This popular run raises vital funds for the 600,000 people living with epilepsy in the UK.

Following a third successive sell-out in 2019, the national charity based in Leeds has increased the number of places from 3,000 to 3,500 – making this year’s Bradford 10k the biggest yet.

Carl Foster, fundraising events manager at Epilepsy Action, said: “We are so excited for this year’s Bradford 10k!

“The past few years have been so exciting, watching the race grow and grow.

“If you’re still thinking about taking part, now’s the time to register for your place!

“The atmosphere in Bradford on race day is always fantastic, with seasoned runners running alongside beginners.

“Sign up today and support the 600,000 people living with epilepsy across the UK.”

The Epilepsy Action Bradford 10k began in 2008. Since then, runners have raised more than £500,000 for the charity, with almost 15,000 runners crossing the finish line.

The course record is held by Tesfaye Debele, who achieved a time of 31.02 minutes in 2013.

Starting and finishing in Centenary Square, the fast and flat 10k route is suitable for first-time runners seeking a challenge, as well as those with more experience.

Epilepsy affects around one in every 100 people in the UK and 87 people are diagnosed with the condition every day. It can affect anyone, at any age, from any background.

Each year, Epilepsy Action directly helps around 2 million people through a range of services. The charity campaigns to improve epilepsy services and raise awareness of the condition.

It also provides a national network of support groups, holds regular regional events and has a freephone and email helpline.

The 10k race, which helps to raise funds for the charity, sees places cost £24 and £22 for members of affiliated running clubs.

A number of road closures will be in place on the day to allow the morning event to take place.
