A CITY centre market will host a concert by a number of Bradford pupils on Saturday.

Pupils from three schools will be taking to the stage in Oastler Market for a concert between 11.30am and 1.30pm.

It is part of preparations for their appearance at the big Schools Prom later in the month.

The students from St. Bede's and St. Joseph's Catholic College, Carlton Bolling and Co-op Academy Grange will be singing and playing music to entertain shoppers in the event space in the market.

The concerts have been arranged by music teachers at the three schools and the Bradford Music Hub to allow the students to practice for the Schools Prom which takes place at St George’s Hall on March 31 and April 1.

Traders in Bradford's Oastler Market report boost in sales

The Schools Prom includes two nights of singing dancing, bands and orchestras made up of pupils showcasing the work they have been doing in schools this academic year.

The show at St George's Hall is presented by Dave Payne who was the face of Channel 5’s Shake and Milkshake.

Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw, Bradford Council’s Executive for Regeneration, Planning and Transport, said: “We’re delighted that we are able to offer this space for the students to perform and get some practice in before they take to the stage at St George’s Hall for the Schools Prom.

"The Oastler Market is very much open for business and will remain open while we build the new Darley Street Market and we hope shoppers and traders will appreciate their talents.”
