ONE of the stars of hit sitcom Derry Girls will be a special guest at Bradford’s Comic-Con this weekend.

Dylan Llewellyn will replace Jumanji actor Jonathan Hyde on the line-up at Bradford Unleashed.

Organisers of the event said Jonathan - who played villainous big game hunter Van Pelt in the 1995 movie, starring Robin Williams - is unable to attend due to work commitments.

Dylan plays James Mcguire, the the only boy at an all-girls convent school in coming-of-age comedy Derry Girls, set against the Troubles in 1990s Northern Ireland. Fans are invited to meet the young actor, who has also been in Hollyoaks and Call the Midwife, and find out what it’s like to work on the hugely popular Derry Girls - Channel 4’s most successful comedy since Father Ted.

Also attending Bradford Unleashed, as previously announced in the Telegraph & Argus, is Star Wars actor Mike Quinn, who fans will know as beloved Nien Nunb, the co-pilot with Lando Calrissian in Star Wars Return Of The Jedi, as well as more recent films. He has also been a puppeteer on several Muppet films and Labyrinth.

Sharon Hall of Unleashed Events said: “We are very pleased to welcome Dylan this Sunday, especially as it’s his first ever attendance at an Unleashed Event. Fans of the show won’t want to miss this opportunity to get to know the actor behind Derry Girls’ James Mcguire, as well as experiencing a fantastic day out for all the family - whether you are a geek or not!”

Bradford Unleashed began in 2018, with guests including stars from Game of Thrones, Indiana Jones movies and Star Wars.
