A SKIPTON woman who harassed a teenager over a debt, leaving her in fear of going out has been given a 12 month community order.

Stacey Carroll, 32, was also given a two year restraining order by Skipton Magistrates barring her from approaching or contacting the teenager in any way for two years.

The court heard today that Carroll sent a text message demanding payment for the unpaid debt and threatening to contact the girl's parents.

She also shouted at the girl from a parked car and on another occasion turned up at her home and shouted for her to ‘Get her scruffy a*** down here now’.

In a victim statement, the girl said she was fearful of going out and if she did leave her house she would be looking over her shoulder.

Carroll admitted harassment without violence between November 30 and December 12 by sending numerous messages that were of a threatening and abusive nature.

In mitigation, Keith Blackwell said money was owed to someone Carroll knew and she accepted things had got out of hand. He added she was a hard working single mother of five children, and on occasions she got wound up.

Magistrates gave Carroll, of Jubilee Close, Skipton, a 12 month community order with 15 rehabilitation activity requirement days. She will also have to pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £90.
