MOTORISTS may have seen an unusual sight on the roads this evening - a 100 tonne steam locomotive.
This evening West Yorkshire Police have been accompanying the GWR Large Prairie steam locomotive from Hartshead Moor Services to Keighley.
The locomotive will be one of the attractions of the upcoming Spring Steam Gala which runs at the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway from Friday 6 to Sunday 8 March.
The visit of the 4144 locomotive is thanks to the Didcot Railway Centre.
Moving the huge vehicle to the town was a major operation in itself, and required police to accompany the wide load as it was being transported.
The force's Roads Policing Unit Tweeted a picture of the loco, adding: "Please bear with us whilst we move this from Hartshead Moor Services to Keighley.
"100+ tonnes of pure steam machine."
