She said: "We have a lady that comes in our shop, for privacy reasons I won't release her name, but I had to stand and watch paramedics work endlessly on her while I held the blanket to give her.

"I don't know the ins-and-outs, but it's the most horrific thing I've had to see and the paramedics worked their best on her.

"I'm so sorry that I won't see you in the shop anymore.

"You had us all laughing at points and we have put you some flowers down.

"I know you're pain free now, I just wish this wasn't the case.

"All our love, from me and Bargain World team."

The Major Collison and Enquiry Team (MCET) would like to speak to anyone who saw the collision.

It occurred after a DAF large goods vehicle collided with a pedestrian who was crossing the road.

The HGV had been turning right from Westgate onto Market Street when it was in collision with the woman.

Sergeant Martyn Burns of the Major Collision Enquiry Team, said: "We are continuing to investigate this very serious collision which has sadly resulted in the death of the pedestrian involved.

"We would very much like to speak to anyone who saw or has dashcam footage of the collision or the lorry in the moments before it occurred.

"I would ask anyone who can assist our enquiries to contact MCET on 101 referencing police number 13200101677.

"Information can also be given online at www.westyorkshire.police.uk/101livechat."
