ALL are welcome to a meeting of Extinction Rebellion (XR) Skipton on Thursday, March 5 at Bean Loved in Otley Street.

It is a chance for existing members to catch up and for new members to come along and find out what it is all about, says the group.

There are currently four newly set up working groups within XR Skipton, with some members being involved in more than one group.

There is the 'council working group', to maintain pressure on Craven District Council to put into action the authority's climate emergency plan and monitor developments.

The 'action working group' - to take part in a variety of tasks ranging from climate strikes and tree planting to regional non-violent action.

The 'communities and outreach group' to create visual awareness at public events and spread the message about the climate emergency.

The 'art group' - a family friendly group which meets to make flyers, banners to help convey the climate change message.

A spokesperson said: "Members of XR Skipton and the Dales come from all walks of life and age groups. Each person decides how involved they want to be - there is no expectation to commit to every meeting, and together they decide on what action the group takes."

Thursday's meeting, which is open to existing and new members, starts at 7pm. Meetings are normally held on the first Thursday of every month at Steep and Filter in Otley Street.
