COUNCILLORS will be given an update on planned "essential works" in Bradford's power network at a meeting tonight.

Northern Powergrid began a £30 million upgrade of the electricity network serving the city late last year.

The first phase saw road closures in the Thornton Road area over half term, and this summer the work will begin in and around the city centre.

Two years of Bradford road disruption begins with £30m power network upgrade

At a meeting of Bradford Council's Bradford West Area Committee tonight, members will be given a verbal update on the plans from Northern Powergrid representatives.

The next phase of work will begin in July/August and runs until the end of 2020.

It will directly impact Heaton, Manningham, Toller and City Wards.

The Committee meets in City Hall at 6pm and the public are welcome to attend.
