An employee at a firm of Bradford solicitors has denied eight counts of fraud and unlawful possession of identity documents.

Susheel Madhas, 40, appeared at Bradford Crown Court today to plead not guilty to all the charges against him.

Madhas, of Cover Drive, Wibsey, Bradford, will stand trial at either York or Hull Crown Court at a date to be confirmed.

He is accused of committing fraud while occupying a position at Highgate Solicitors by falsely claiming that personal injury claims were being pursued on behalf of four people.

Madhas is also charged with making purported orders from the county court and crown court to be used to commit or assist in the commission of fraud.

The final two charges are that Madhas possessed a UK passport and UK driving licence that related to other people.

Heather Gilmore, for the Crown, said the trial would last at least five days.

Madhas’s barrister, Julian Jones, asked that the case not be heard at Bradford or Leeds Crown Court.

Judge Jonathan Rose extended Madhas’s bail until the trial date.
