PEOPLE in Bradford District affected by flooding from storms Ciara and Dennis are to get further help from the Council thanks to new Government funding.

The funding will be made available to households where flood water entered habitable areas of the property. This support includes £500 to help meet immediate costs, a reduction in council tax and up to £5,000 to put measures in place to help protect against future floods.

Similar schemes will also be available for businesses that were flooded.

These measures are in addition to the hardship grant from Bradford Council and ‘Give Bradford and Leeds Community Foundation’ announced recently.

Heavy rain leads to flooding on district's roads

The Council is in the process of contacting those affected by the flooding. If flood water did enter habitable areas of your home, and you have not been contacted by us, tell the Council by calling 01274 431000.

Councillor Susan Hinchcliffe, Leader of Bradford Council, said: “I am relieved that the Government has finally listened to our representations for them to step up and provide support for those affected by Storm Ciara and Storm Dennis. It’s been a terrible time for those residents and businesses affected. I appreciate that the impact and costs of the flooding are significant but hope that the package of support can go some way to help in alleviating the hardships caused.”
