ART and fashion will come together at a special event next week in a collaboration between a vintage expert and local artist.

Trudy Fielding, who runs her fashion business Vintage Beau from studio space in Little Germany, has teamed up with artist Caroline Brown for the open day event The Art of Vintage next Saturday (February 29).

There will be a chance to browse Vintage Beau’s treasure trove of rails and shelves, which are full of hand-picked true vintage pieces - from 1950's coats to 1970’s maxi dresses, plus hats, gloves, jewellery, bags and shoes from every era.

Men's jackets, suits and accessories are also available.

Trudy will be on hand to offer her wealth of vintage knowledge. She works with costume designers around the UK, sourcing vintage pieces for television, film and theatre, and has worked in television costume departments for the BBC and ITV.

In a special collaboration for the day, contemporary artist Caroline Brown will adorn the walls of Vintage Beau with recent paintings, which are for sale.

Caroline is also in the vintage business, as co-owner of Rose & Brown Vintage.

Many of her paintings are inspired by the colours, prints and shapes to be found in vintage fashion.

Trudy said: “I thought that Caroline’s art would complement the vintage fashion in my studio space.

"There’s such a strong connection between the beautiful colours, fabrics and designs, and the style and individuality of her paintings.

"It will be a visual treat for all the visitors, to look through my large selection of original vintage clothes and accessories, surrounded by her lovely paintings.

"I’m looking forward to advising customers on their vintage purchases and talking about art with Caroline and the visitors too.”
