POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an incident in which a police officer was struck by the wing mirror of a second vehicle.
At 17.49pm on Wednesday, February 19, officers were on the M62 westbound carriageway about half a mile before junction 24 at Ainley Top assisting with the broken-down white transit van when a dark grey Volkswagen estate pulled up onto the hard shoulder.
As one of the officers approached the Volkswagen to speak to the driver, it pulled off, striking the officer with its wing mirror, knocking him to the ground and resulting in cuts and bruises.
Police are appealing for information to identity this vehicle and its driver and are asking for anyone who may have witnessed it, or may have Dash Cam footage from the time and location, to get in touch by calling 101 or via the Live Chat on the West Yorkshire Police website, quoting log 1225 of February 19 2020.
