PLANS to turn a shop unit on Leeds Road into a bakery have been submitted to Bradford Council.
The unit at the junction of Mortimer Row and Leeds Road has been a dress shop, and would be a business selling Asian sweets if the new application by Abdullah Jabbar Akhtar is approved.
The ground floor would become a bakery and shop area.
The Leeds Road area is a hub for restaurants, cafes and Asian themed businesses.
Could Leeds Road's success be replicated in city centre?
The application says: " Leeds Road is a very busy and vibrant road and is a gateway for traffic travelling to and from Bradford city centre.
"Asian sweets will be sold on the premises, with a small amount of sweets manufactured on site."
The first floor of the building would be retained as office space - it adds.
A decision on the application is expected in early April.
