THE mobile phone has become the most important possession all of us own now, but as a result the number of mobile thefts has increased.

Mobile phone recycling firm Mazuma contacted police forces around the UK to find out where in the country has the most, and least, amount of mobile phone thefts over the past three years.

And Bradford ranks on the lowest number of mobile phone thefts, in fourth place, with 1,559 in the last three years.

Here are the top five ratings, starting with the places with the most:

Cities and towns with the highest no. of mobile phone thefts (past three years): 1 Leeds - 6,078; 2 Newcastle upon Tyne - 5,002; 3 Liverpool - 4,005; 4 Bristol - 3,578; 5 Kingston upon Hull - 3,559.

Cities and towns with the lowest no. of mobile phone thefts (past three years): 1 Bournemouth - 490; 2 Derby - 535; 3 Nottingham - 1,132; 4 Bradford - 1,559; 5 Plymouth - 1,912.

West Yorkshire Police declined to comment when approached by the Telegraph & Argus. 

Meanwhile, the research also reveals the boroughs where you’re most likely to have your phone stolen in London, showing Westminster has the most with 33,3330 overall. Sutton has the least with just 1,416.

The research also reveals that Apple phones are more at risk of being stolen than Samsung.
