THE Bingley branch of Wetherspoons will be able to expand into a neighbouring empty unit after a planning application by the bar giant was approved.
Last month an application to change the use of the former Natwest bank on Main Street into a 1,130 sq ft extension of the popular pub, which is called The Myrtle Grove, was submitted to Bradford Council.
The work, which the company says will cost around £1 million, will also include the first floor of the vacant bank being demolished to make way for a 1,300 sq ft beer garden/roof terrace.
The site is next to the Bingley Town Centre Conservation Area, and opposite the entrance to Myrtle Park.
The application has now been approved.

Planning officers said: "The neighbouring unit has been vacant for some time and the extension of the existing, adjoining pub into this unit would bring it into productive use.
"The existing building is modern and somewhat featureless.
"At the moment it does not contribute positively to the setting of the conservation area and the proposals would add visual interest by giving the property a more contemporary appearance which matches the Myrtle Grove."
The company said there is, as yet, no date set for the work to start.
