POLICE are continuing their appeal for witnesses after a suspected 'gunshot' was heard in Carlisle.

Officers temporarily sealed off Moorhouse Road in the Belle Vue area in the west of Carlisle swiftly after they were called out at about 1am on February 11 following initial reports of an armed robbery.

The incident also triggered a response from Cumbria Police’s armed response unit between 2am and 3am.

Several men threatened the occupants before taking personal property.

While nobody was injured, police say they are treating the incident as an aggravated burglary.

A spokesman from Cumbria Police confirmed an investigation into what happened remains ongoing.

He said: "Officers continue to ask that anyone with information, who has yet to do so, comes forward."
