BRADFORD’S City of Culture 2025 bid is asking the district’s creative talent for short videos that show what culture looks like in different areas of the Bradford District.

Bradford 2025 bid is asking filmmakers, animators, photographers and other artists of all kinds around the district to make short videos for social media, showing their cultural life in their own neighbourhood.

Bid director Richard Shaw said: “Bradford 2025 is keen to hear stories about the whole district, the towns of Keighley, Shipley, Bingley and Ilkley as well as all the outlying areas and the city centre, joining together in creating Bradford’s final overarching bid.

“We’re asking filmmakers of all kinds, and all levels of experience, to show us what their cultural life looks like wherever they live, and share that with us on social media.

City of Culture: Team unveiled to lead Bradford's bid

“It’s our hope that by inviting everyone in the district to make something if they want to, we can learn more about culture all over Bradford, as well as finding new talent and new work which can be used as part of the #bradford2025 campaign.

“A brilliant film was made by Jack King and Hollie Bryan to announce the news of Bradford’s intention to bid for City of Culture, featuring just some elements of culture in Bradford. That video opened up a district-wide conversation about what we would all like to see included in the bid, and this project is a way for people to show us what’s important to people in their own neighbourhood.”

Each video should show what culture looks like in any part of Bradford district, and videos can be made by individuals, businesses, cultural organisations, families or community groups.

Videos can be abstract, experimental, personal or professional, as long as they are up to one minute long and are original work.

Filmmakers should share their finished videos on Twitter, Instagram, or publicly on Facebook, with the hashtag #bradford2025.

Bradford 2025 will be looking for video submissions until the end of March and will then approach some of the filmmakers directly about using their videos in future campaigns for Bradford 2025.

Bradford 2025 will share videos on their Facebook page at facebook.com/bradford2025, on Twitter at @bradford2025 and on Instagram @bradford_2025
