Here’s one for all those hopeless romantics out there. That perfect 80s moment when Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean glided across the ice to Maurice Ravel's Boléro taking away nothing but a host of perfect sixes during the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo.

The performance was watched by a British television audience of more than 24 million people spawning a generation of kids all wanting to become the next Torvill and Dean.

In April 1984 a special good luck card was presented to the champion skaters as they returned to Barbados. The unique card was designed by Rustcraft artist, Bruce Baillie and colleague Janet Howarth.

March 1994 the T&A offered readers the chance to win tickets to see Face The Music, the couples fourth commercial show at Sheffield Arena.

The pair retired from competitive skating for good in 1998 after touring one last time with their own show, Ice Adventures.
