A CITY centre gym is still shut days after it was forced to close due to flood damage.

easyGym Bradford, near the Broadway, was first closed on Monday for repair work and a deep clean.

It is understood the gym opened again on Tuesday, February 11 but was re-closed a short time after.

Gym Manager Mansoor Hussain said: "It is with great regret that we have had to close the Bradford gym again due to the damage and flooding caused by the recent bad weather.

"We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused. Please be patient and we will inform you ahead of time when the gym is ready to open again."

It is not known when the gym will reopen again but it has left some fitness fanatics feeling "frustrated".

One gym member, who works in the city centre but did not wish to be named, said: “I wanted to get a workout in before work on Monday, so got to the gym quite early to find it was shut.

"A guy who came out at the gym said there was some damage from a leak, possibly to do with the storm but maybe to do with some water pipes. He said it would be closed for most of the week because of the damage.

“The information about when it might reopen has all been a bit confused. I got an email on Tuesday saying it had reopened, so I went on Thursday to find it closed again. It’s all a bit frustrating really.

“I was just getting into good shape, but a week without my normal routine hasn’t half seen some spare tyres reappearing around the old waistline.”

While another customer said he has found other ways to exercise until the repair work is complete.

He said: “I work in the city centre, so it is really convenient for me to attend the gym after I finish, before catching the train home. Although membership is very reasonably priced at £14.99 per month, it is frustrating that I am currently paying that amount without being able to attend.

“The closure is obviously frustrating too as it means I have to find alternative ways to exercise. Last night I went on a 5k run around where I live and I could barely stand up when I got back! I hope the gym reopens soon so I don’t have to be doing that too often.”
