AN office building can be converted into a mixed taekwondo school/house development after plans were approved by Bradford Council.

Premier Taekwondo of Huddersfield will run classes from the building, Ellis House, off Holme Lane, Tong, once the conversion takes place.

The planning application, submitted by David Le And Misbah Ahmed late last year, called for the building, which is currently operating as offices and storage, to be converted into three bedroom residential space and a taekwondo school.

£3m scheme to get Bradford's children more healthy to finally start this summer - 18 months after being announced

The applicants say the building "has been underused and partly vacant for over a decade, and the proposal will result in more commercial floor space being actively used."

The application said classes would be small and run primarily after school hours during the week and on Saturdays during the day.

It adds there is "a strong unmet demand for a taekwondo facility in the area."

There are eight off street parking spaces on the site - one of which will be allocated for the house and the others for the school.

The plans were approved by Bradford Council this week.
