A 13-YEAR-old boy has been injured in a road traffic accident in Shipley.

The collision involved the pedestrian and a white Ford transit van shortly before 8am this morning on Carr Lane at the junction with Hollin Lane.

Officers from West Yorkshire Police's Operation Steerside happened to be passing the scene of the incident and stopped to help.

The police later confirmed that the teenager had been taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary with a suspected broken arm and shoulder injuries.

Carr Lane was partially blocked while the incident was dealt with.

Operation Steerside tweeted: "Got sidetracked this morning after coming across an RTC in @WYP_Shipley. 13yr old vs a van. Thankfully nothing more than a broken arm, could’ve been a lot worse.

"Directing traffic when the sleet is blowing sideways is not much fun!"
