YELLOW warnings for heavy snow showers and ice are in place until 7pm tonight and the coming days.

The Met Office has warned travel disruption, particularly over higher routes, is likely with icy patches expected on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.

People are advised to take extra care if walking to avoid injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.

The wintery warning will stay in place on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

Where is snow set to fall?

Snow is now falling across parts of north Midlands and the south Pennines and this area of snow is expected to move eastwards through the afternoon, clearing to the east on Monday evening.

Snow is expected to fall down to low levels at times but most accumulations should be above 100 m where 1-3cm is possible in places.

But the Met Office has said not all areas will see snow falling.
