A LARGE secondary school has remained closed today due to roof damage.

Benton Park School, in Rawdon, shut at short notice last Monday citing "health and safety" reasons in relation to the roof of the main teaching building.

It was announced on Friday that the school would be closed today while professionals carried out a full assessment of the damage.

The school has outlined the arrangements for Year 11, 12 and 13 students in a further letter to parents and guardians.

Year 11 and 13 pupils are in Pudsey, with the former working at Pudsey Civic Hall on Maths and English exam preperation.

The latter meanwhile are based at Pudsey Town Hall, following a similar schedule to their usual timetable.

Both locations have subject specialist staff on hand.

Year 12 students are taking their lessons in the school sports hall, but there is no further access to the rest of the school site.

Those in Pudsey met at the school sports hall in the morning and were taken to the two sites by a coach.

They will be brought back by the coach at around 2.45pm.

Pupils will then be taken back home by the normal school bus.

It is hoped the school will reopen tomorrow.
