A MAJOR Bradford road is still closed today after it collapsed yesterday morning.

Hollingwood Lane, in Great Horton, was shut both ways throughout Wednesday after a water main burst and led to part of the road sinking.

The closure began at around 7:36am yesterday and was between Clayton Road and Chelsea Road - just opposite the retail park.

It has remained closed today, according to AA's traffic news.

A member of the public sent in a video yesterday of water spewing from the collapsed road.

One man, who drove past at around 2:13pm today, explained roads in and around the area are gridlocked.

He said that there was a backlog of traffic on Clayton Road, going all the way to the junction with Beckside Road and Cemetery Road.

The driver added that queues had built back to Farmers Boy manufacturing building on Cemetery Road.

Great Horton Road is also gridlocked, according to the man.

The closure led to similar traffic chaos yesterday, particularly during the morning rush-hour and evening commute.
