COULD Bradford create a new vintage quarter filled with independent businesses?

That's the hope of one Sunbridgewells trader who is on a mission to bring new business into the tunnels.

Ursula Sutcliffe, who runs Plant One on Me on Upper Millergate, has sent out an appeal in the hope of garnering support and reaching out to people who might be interested in the little huts in the entrance to the complex.

"We've had loads of people come and go in the past and right now we've got some fantastic people down there, but I'm really interested in getting like a vintage quarter set up there, in Bradford, which I just think would be fantastic," she said in a video.

"We've got an opportunity to help people start their own business. The incentives are fantastic, it's a really great way to slowly build up a business, seeing what it's like, what's people's responses to it - without going through the daunting task of needing 'x' amount of pounds."

Ursula said she would be potentially looking for things like street food vendors, people who sell vintage and retro clothing, vintage furniture, or barbers and tattooists.

"I started in the tunnels and it gave me the opportunity to see what my product was like, if people were enjoying it and save up to get my first shop," she said.

"A city centre is rising from the ashes, there's a lot of investment going on right now.

"I truly believe over the next two years, Bradford city centre is going to be a whole different shopping experience and it's going to be fantastic for people - especially us small independents who are working hard to bring something new to Bradford."

She's urging anyone who is interested to get in touch.

A meeting will be held at the shop on Monday, February 10, between 12pm and 3pm to provide more information.
