A MAN has been treated for a "serious head injury" after his unregistered off-road bike and a car collided.

Police were called to the crash on St Paul's Road, near its junction with Halifax Road, at around 7.20pm last night.

A motorcycle - an unregistered Kawasaki off-road bike - was in collision with a blue Ford Focus.

The bike rider, a man in his twenties, was taken to hospital.

He was treated for a serious head injury, according to a police spokesperson.

They added: "The driver of the Focus stopped at the scene and was spoken to by officers."

The T&A's traffic page said Halifax Road was closed both ways while the crash was dealt with.

Traffic was reportedly slow and one witness said cars heading on that route were being turned away by police.

Police are now appealing for any witnesses or anyone who can help with the investigation.
