RESIDENTS say they have been left in the dark after a man's body was found on a Cleckheaton street in the early hours.

Police appear to be focusing on 40 Serpentine Road, a detached property believed to have two flats inside.

The road was blocked earlier this morning while a white tent was in place on the corner of the road.

One man, who was watching TV around 3am, first noticed flashing lights and told his girlfriend that something was happening outside.

But like many of his neighbours and one business owner, little has been said about the unexplained death.

The man told the Telegraph & Argus: "I don't even know what's happened. I don't know whether what's happening is anything to worry about.

"They had a tent on the corner, there were a lot of police here last night."

Two PCSOs continue to guard number 40, a typical house, where the unlocked door is seen to be damaged and fragments of the dark wood are littered just in front.

In the top window of the front porch, glass has been shattered.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

Another resident said: "I came to take the bin out this morning and I noticed it was all cordoned off.

"I don't know what's gone on."

West Yorkshire Police said the death is being treated as unexplained pending a post mortem examination.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "At this time there are no suspicious circumstances to the death.

"Police were called at 2.50am this morning to Serpentine Road, Cleckheaton, to a report of an unconscious man on the pavement. Paramedics also attended at the scene and the man was pronounced deceased a short time later.

"The body is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be a man in his 40s."
