A councillor has spoken of a community's shock following a horror crash near Keighley which claimed the life of a teenager.
The 19-year-old died after the vehicle in which he was a passenger was involved in a smash near Cononley.
District councillor Andy Brown, who lives in the village, said the tragedy had sent shockwaves through the community.
“Everyone has been left devastated by what happened,” he added.
“Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the young man who died and all those involved.”
Floral tributes have been placed at the scene of the accident, which happened on the A629 – near Cononley Lane Ends – on Saturday evening.
One emotional message refers to the victim’s “infectious smile and cheeky smirk”.
The 19-year-old – whose name has not been released by police – was travelling in a Volkswagen Polo which was involved in a collision with a BMW X1, shortly after 8pm.
The driver of the Polo, also 19, was taken to Leeds General Infirmary with serious injuries. He remains in a critical condition.
A second passenger in the VW, an 18-year-old man, was taken to Airedale Hospital with what police describe as “life-changing” injuries.
The driver of the BMW, a 63-year-old man, and his two passengers – a 63-year-old woman and a girl aged seven – were taken to Airedale Hospital with minor injuries.
Firefighters from Keighley, Skipton, Ilkley and Grassington attended, together with ambulance crews and police.
The road was closed for about eight hours.
North Yorkshire police are appealing for witnesses to the accident, or anyone with dashcam footage, to come forward. The white Polo was travelling towards Cross Hills, and the white BMW in the opposite direction.
