A POIGNANT film will be screened at the Showcase cinema in Birstall to commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day.
Anne Frank: Parallel Stories will be shown at the cinema tomorrow (January 28).
Created in celebration of what would have been Anne’s 90th birthday, Academy Award winning actress Dame Helen Mirren tells the story of Anne Frank’s life through the pages of her world-famous diary.
The emotive journey is entwined with the stories of five Holocaust survivors, Arianna Szörenyi, Sarah Lichtsztejn-Montard, Helga Weiss and sisters Andra and Tatiana Bucci, plus insights from their relatives and historians of the period.
James Dobbin, Director of Event Cinema for Showcase Cinemas said: “We are honoured to screen this poignant and important documentary, sharing the story of Anne Frank’s life.
"Showcase Cinemas invites people of all ages to Dame Helen Mirren’s retelling, exploring why this tragic story has become a symbol of the Holocaust and why it holds such great relevance today.”
The screening will begin at 7.30pm. Tickets can be purchased at: https://www.showcasecinemas.co.uk/film-info/anne-frank-parallel-stories
