THE lights went out on Bradford Bulls’ pre-season programme as they ran out winners over fellow Betfred Championship side York City Knights.

Bad light stopped play in the derby clash, with a problem with the power grid in a nearby area causing floodlight problems.

But it was a good day for John Kear’s Bulls as they gained much-needed momentum with a 6-4 win, ahead of their league curtain-raiser against London Broncos at the Tetley’s Stadium, Dewsbury, this Sunday.

Bulls ace Jordan Lilley best summed up the mood in his side’s camp after the narrow, low-scoring victory with this tweet with a rallying cry to supporters:

The Bulls official twitter also wished many happy returns to one of their players:

Meanwhile, fans also took to social media to have their say on the Bulls triumph over their near neighbours:

Joe Brown tweeted: “Tough win today against a good side. Our young boys were outstanding. Pre season done and dusted... ytb’s🤟@OfficialBullsRL”

Millyn posted on the Telegraph & Argus: “Very good performance. You could see the desire and effort of the players and the way they supported each other. Looking forward to next week. COYB.”
