A WEEKEND of music, comedy and vintage clothing awaits in the Bradford district.

But we have managed to find a few things that might take your fancy which are taking place in Bradford this weekend.

Friday - John Otway at Queens Hall, Burley-in-Wharfedale - from 8.15pm

English singer-songwriter Otway, who has built a sizeable cult audience through his surreal sense of humour brings his show to Burley after a near 50-year career which has seen him play venues including Carnegie Hall and Sydney Opera House.

Tickets are priced £13.20 including a booking fee.

Friday - Stipe at Nightrain, Bradford - from 7pm to 11pm

The REM tribute band take to the stage of the Queensgate venue playing the band's hits including Shiny Happy People, Losing My Religion and Man on the Moon.

The following night, British rock band, Anchor Lane, will play at the same venue from 7pm.

From Friday - Upstagers Pantomime - Sinbad at Kings Hall and Winter Gardens, Ilkley, start times vary

Audiences can enjoy a night of songs and dancing for the Upstagers' 2020 pantomime. The show will run from Friday until Saturday, February 1.

Weekend start times are: Fri, Jan 24 - 7.15pm; Sat, Jan 25 - 1.30pm and 6.30pm and Sun, Jan 26 - 2.15pm.

Friday and Saturday - Humble Boy, Ilkley Playhouse - from 7.30pm

The play follows Felix Humble who is drawn back to the family home after the death of his father, a biology teacher and amateur beekeeper.

Tickets are priced £12, students £6 and greenroom £5.

Friday and Saturday - Proof, Bingley Arts Centre - from 7.30pm

The plot follows Catherine, the 20-something daughter of an esteemed mathematician, Robert, who has laid him to rest.

Student, Hal, searching through his ex-professor's papers, finds a pad of cutting-edge solutions. Catherine wrote the proof, but how can she provide the evidence to support this?

A Tony Award-winning play finishes its run in Bingley this weekend with two performances.

Prices range from £8 for concessions (people aged 60 or over) to £10 front stalls.

From Saturday - Keighley Musical Theatre Company - Cinderella at Victoria Hall - Keighley - times vary

Cinderella returns to the Keighley venue for a run which continues until Saturday, February 1.

Show times are: Saturday, January 25 – 1pm and 6pm; Sunday, January 26 – 2.15pm.

From Saturday - Up and Away: C.H. Wood’s aerial photography at Bradford Industrial Museum - free entry

Up and Away: C.H. Wood’s aerial photography at the Moorside Road, Eccleshill, venue.

Using the crystal clear aerial photographs taken by Bradford photographer C.H Wood, this exhibition explores the green and pleasant land beyond Bradford from above.

The museum is open on Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 4pm. The exhibition runs until November 1.

Saturday - Saltaire Vintage Home & Fashion Fair at Victoria Hall - Saltaire 9.30am to 4pm

The first of five fairs this year has more than 40 stalls of genuine vintage items including vintage fashion, such as 1940s tea dresses, jewellery, accessories, furniture, homewares, vintage vinyl, toys, books, kitchenalia and collectables, all from the 1920s to the 1980s.

Entrance is £3 full price, £2 concessions, Under-16s free. Group discounts available.

Saturday - Darren Harriott: Good Heart Yute at Studio Theatre, Bradford - from 7.30pm

The stand-up comedian who has appeared on TV shows including Mock The Week, brings his set to Bradford as part of his UK tour.

Recommended age 16 or over, or 14+ if accompanied by an adult.

Sunday - Holocaust Memorial Day Evensong with Address at Bradford Cathedral - 4pm to 5.30pm

Lilian Black, chair of the trustees of the Holocaust Survivors’ Friendship Association and the Holocaust Exhibition and Learning Centre at Huddersfield University, will give this year's address.

Her late father, Eugene, was deported from his home in Hungary in 1944 and sent to Auschwitz-Birkenau. He lost most of his family to the Holocaust but survived concentration camps and forced labour to make a new life in the UK.

Free entry. Refreshments will be served afterwards.

Sunday - David Harper: Unexpected Tales! at Ilkley Playhouse - from 7.30pm

The talk sees David Harper, who has appeared on a host of TV shows including Bargain Hunt and Flog It, look back on his career.

Mr Harper will take questions from the audience or questions and challenges from him throughout, as the talk develops.

Tickets priced £14.

Sunday - Music at the Museum: Keighley Ukulele Orchestra at Cliffe Castle Museum and Park - 2pm to 3pm

Keighley Ukelele Orchestra, a group of mixed ability ukulele enthusiasts from beginners to seasoned players, will give a free performance.

Seating is limited so it is advised to arrive early to ensure a seat if you require one.

Spectators can also enjoy the music from the balcony area of the Bracewell Smith Hall, however that is standing space only

Sunday - Bolshoi Ballet Live: Giselle at Pictureville at National Science Media Museum -from 3pm

This ballet will be screened at the city centre venue from 3pm and the performance is two hours and 20 minutes long.

The production follows the story of Giselle, a peasant girl, dies when she learns that the man she loves, Albrecht, has betrayed her.
