A POLICE search of the Bradford home of a driver stopped in North Yorkshire uncovered an illegal weapon, heard Skipton Magistrates Court.
Amir Mohammed, 22, of Devonshire Terrace, off St Mary's Road, Manningham, Bradford, was in a car stopped by police in Keighley Road, Skipton, during the early afternoon of October 17, 2018.
Officers carried out a search of the car, and its occupants as part of an investigation that was not proceeded with, the court heard on Friday.
The investigation also included a search of Mohammed's home in Bradford where police found in a bedroom drawer a weapon designed or adapted for the discharge of CS gas.
The court heard it was a functional device with the only purpose of discharging a noxious substance for some distance.
Mohammed's fingerprints were on the outside of the lid of the device, and there was gas in it, but there was no suggestion it had been used in a public place, or used at all, said prosecutor, Martin Butterworth.
Mohammed admitted possessing a weapon for the discharge of a noxious gas or liquid. Magistrates adjourned sentencing for an all options report to January 31.
