A KESTREL, which was illegally shot over the weekend, is being cared for at a wildlife centre.
West Yorkshire Police's Wildlife and Rural Crime team attended an incident at Hade Edge, in the Holmfirth area.
It happened on Sunday, January 19.
A kestrel had been shot and the projectile damaged its wing.
Officers recorded a crime as a result.
The kestrel was taken in by Meltham Wildlife Rescue, and is being treated there.
Police are now appealing for any witnesses to the crime, or anyone who can help in their investigation.
