PC Martin Willis was covered in mud after a foot chase with a suspect.
A POLICE officer was covered in mud after a foot chase with a suspected car thief.
PC Martin Willis - who is known as "Motorway Martin" on social media site Twitter - was out on patrol in the early hours of this morning.
The officer spotted a suspected stolen vehicle on the M62 at around 3:58am.
The chase began when the driver ran off from the car and into a field.
PC Willis followed the suspect across several fields.
He was eventually caught and detained.
The chase left PC Willis covered in mud - on his boots and trousers.
He said: "You know you've had a good foot chase across fields when you look like this."
