Firefighters carried out a riverbank rescue after receiving reports that a seagull was trapped in a fisherman's line in the middle of a river.
The RSPCA called in the fire service after realising they needed help to get the distressed bird out of the River Calder, at Bridge End, Brighouse, at 12.30pm.
A Brighouse fireman said: "We used a long hook and got it round the fishing line and managed to get it into the net, then the RSPCA took it away in a box. It was still alive and it will probably be okay."
