MARK Burns-Williamson, West Yorkshire's Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), launched a consultation on the police budget yesterday and wants to hear the views of the public.
"As PCC for West Yorkshire, I am responsible for setting the annual budget for West Yorkshire Police. I want to increase visible frontline policing, putting more officers in our neighbourhoods to make sure communities are safe.
"By making a 4.99 per cent increase in the police precept, which equates to £7.26 a year for most households in West Yorkshire, I can provide resources for more officers.
"But before I make a decision, I would like to know your views. Please complete the online survey at www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/WYBudget2020. The deadline is 5pm on 31 January."
