A TEENAGE singer from Otley is looking forward to starring in a new pantomime.

Emeli Mumford enjoyed a successful and busy 2019 which saw her land the lead role in a British Youth Music Theatre Production at the New Wolsey Theatre, in Ipswich.

The Prince Henry’s Grammar School student also sang for Countryfile Live at Castle Howard and rounded off an action-packed year by singing at the Otley Christmas lights switch-on ceremony.

Now she is preparing for her next role - as Princess Shahazera in Upstagers’ production of Sinbad at Ilkley.

The 18 year old said: “I’m very excited to be joining the cast of the award-winning Upstagers’ panto this year.

“The audience can expect a roaringly hilarious pantomime filled with terrible jokes and amazing song and dance routines!”

Sinbad will be performed at the King’s Hall, Ilkley between January 24 and February 1.

There will be ten performances in total, with three matinees.

Upstagers will be supporting Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice charity during the pantomime’s run.

Tickets are available from the Upstagers website at www.upstagers.org.uk/boxoffice or by calling 0333 666 3366 or the local box office on (01943) 607944.
