A COMMITTEE of councillors will look at what options are available to tackle motorists who park on the pavement.
At a meeting of Bradford Council on Tuesday evening, members voted through a motion on pavement parking.
Brought forward by Councillor Alun Griffiths (Lib Dem, Idle and Thackley), the motion said “parking on pavements is ‘detrimental to the quality of life of those in the locality,’ especially the elderly, disabled and those with young children.”

It called for the Council to look into a public space protection order to deal with the issue.
Inconsiderate parking on pavements is a problem throughout the district, whether it is parents parking as close to school gates as possible to diners parking on the pavements of Leeds Road.
At Tuesday’s Council meeting, the leading Labour group proposed an amendment to the motion, requesting the Council’s Regeneration and Environment Scrutiny Committee to look at the issue.
The amended motion was approved, and at a future meeting the committee will “consider the problem of excessive pavement parking and what options may be available to address the issue.”
