THE Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's visit to Bradford has been dubbed as a "defining moment" for the city.

Suzanne Watson, President of the Bradford Chamber of Commerce, met Prince William and his wife Catherine in City Hall, where they spoke with young people and local business owners.

She described it as a "privilege" to represent the Chamber on their visit and put the Bradford Manufacturing Weeks initiative in the spotlight.

Over two years, it has created almost 10,000 opportunities for young people in the district to learn about and experience a manufacturing environment to help shape their future career decisions.

"The Duke and Duchess commented on how important education and business partnerships are in creating opportunities for young people, it was wonderful to hear their support for an initiative that we work so hard here at the Chamber to make happen," she said.

“The timing of this visit is absolutely perfect- William and Kate are a further boost to the invigorated mood of Bradfordians and our positivity in this district.

"With so much regeneration around us and opportunity such as the City of Culture bid, means today has been one of our city’s defining moments in a new chapter of optimism and confidence which will benefit and support the future of generations to come.”
