A POLICE officer said an uninjured driver should "put the lottery on" after their car flew off the side of the motorway and landed on its roof.
The incident happened on the M1 northbound carriageway, near junction 43 (M621) at around 10:11am.
Officers were called when the red car left the side of the motorway.
It ended up in a ditch at the side of the carriageway and was badly damaged.
Lane one (of three) had to be closed until around 11:37am while the car was cleared.
The fire service blocked the lane.
Traffic coped well during the closure.
PC Martin Willis - known as Motorway Martin on Twitter - attended the scene.
He said: "Amazingly the driver of this vehicle escaped with slight injuries when their vehicle left the carriageway on the M1 northbound this morning near junction 43.
"They should definitely put the lottery on."
