NORTHERN GAS was rushed to a house after a driver crashed into it and fractured a mains gas supply pipe.

Officers from the Batley and Spen Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) were conducting burglary patrols in the evening of Saturday and into Sunday morning.

It was during this time that they attended a road traffic collision in Hanging Heaton, at around 3am.

A vehicle had crashed into a house and damaged a mains gas supply pipe.

The driver then made off from the scene.

Northern Gas came to make the supply pipe safe and the road was closed during the works.

Enquiries are ongoing.

The NPT also dealt with two driving offences in Liversedge across the evening.

One driver was arrested on suspicion of being over the prescribed limit (OPL) for alcohol.

They lost control in their vehicle and collided with parked cars.

A road-side breath-test saw the driver blow a reading of 78.

This is more than twice the legal limit.

A van was also stopped in Liversedge and the driver reported for no insurance.
