BRADFORD Literature Festival has unveiled a new project to develop and publish 10 Reasons to Love Bradford, a new book celebrating the city.

It will be written and illustrated by Bradford school children in collaboration with children’s author Catherine Barr.

The students will be drawing on their own experiences of Bradford’s nature, art, culture, religion, history, sport and more to create written or illustrated submissions for the book.

Syima Aslam, Director of Bradford Literature Festival, said: “Our work with schools is hugely important and the bedrock of our programme both during the festival and throughout the rest of the year.

"It feels right therefore that BLF’s first publication will be created in partnership with the brilliant young people in our city’s primary schools. I’m delighted that we will be able to give these young voices a platform to celebrate what they love best about the city”.

Kersten England, chief xecutive of Bradford Council and BLF Board Member, said: “Pride in a place is the key stone connecting people to their communities, helping to build a sense of authentic and shared identity, values and purpose."

It will be launched at this year’s festival on Saturday, June 27 June in City Park.
