BRADFORD Council is shaking up how it deals with requests for disabled parking spaces on residential streets.

Currently any objections to requests for bays have to go before a Bradford Area Committee.

This can delay decisions on whether to create a new space for up to two months due to committee cycle dates and meeting lead-in times.

The Council's Executive has now approved a change to the system, meaning the decision will now be made by the Council's Executive Member for Regeneration, Planning and Transport or the Strategic Director (Place), rather than wait to go before a public committee.

Council officers diverted from investigating Blue Badge fraud to investigating their own staff

At the Executive Councillor Alex Ross Shaw, Executive Member for Regeneration, Planning and Transport, said the chairs of the District's five area committee were happy with the proposals, adding: "The eixsting process can be a bit slow, this will help speed it up."
