YELLOW warnings for strong winds for Bradford are in place until 9pm tonight and also for Thursday.

The Met Office has warned that windy conditions for parts of Scotland and northern England with some disruption in places. The affected yellow areas stretches down to South Yorkshire. The yellow warning began at 5am today.

The warning covers the whole of the Bradford district and even across to York and the North East.

Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely and probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer. Some short term loss of power and other services is also possible.

Meanwhile, this Thursday, January 9’s yellow warning for very strong winds also covers the whole of the Bradford district.

It is set to run for a 15-hour period between 3am and 6pm.

The Met Office added there is a small chance of injuries and danger to life from flying debris and a slight chance of some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs.

No yellow wind warning is in place for tomorrow as it stands.

Meanwhile, temperatures in Bradford will soar to a mild high of 12C today which will carry on into tonight with overnight numbers not decreasing.

But the warmer weather is not set to last too long with temperatures tomorrow plummeting to 6C but staying dry, according to the Met Office website.

However, an initial forecast for this Saturday will see temperatures reach 11C.

Today’s overall forecast for Yorkshire and Humber today is: “Increasingly windy through the morning, especially in the north, with gales in exposure that should continue through the afternoon. Rather cloudy throughout, with some rain at times, more likely early and late. Feeling mild in shelter from the strong wind. Maximum temperature 13 °C.”
