WEST YORKSHIRE Police are urging students who are returning to college and univeristy after the Christmas and New Year break to be vigilant and watch out for thieves.
In a recent social media post, police said, "Your college and uni campuses are not student exclusive zones" and claim that "anyone can wander in."
The post argues that thieves encroaching on to college and university premises may be "looking for easy pickings such as mobile phones, laptops, handbags and bikes.
"Thieves dress up to look like students and door surf to bypass security or access codes or swipe card systems", the post continues.
Police say that the "most common" areas for thefts on campuses are libraries, locker areas, cafes and bars and bike racks, before finishing the post by saying, "Don’t leave your laptops and phones alone whilst popping to get a drink or go to the bathroom.”
