A REVIEW of the solar powered bins found across Bradford will be carried out to make sure they are located in the best spots.
In recent years a number of the high tech bins have sprung up across the District, with four installed last summer at Horton Park, Lister Park and Chellow Dene Reservoir.
The bins hold nine times more litter than standard bins, compacting the litter to increase the amount that can be deposited before they require emptying. Waste managers are alerted automatically by email when the bins are full.
Litter service ‘struggling’ to clean smaller streets after cuts - Councillor claims
At a recent meeting of Bradford Council's Bradford West Area Committee Stuart Russo, performance officer told members that the Council had reviewed all its solar bins. He said they were "very expensive" and it was unlikely the Council would be buying more unless new funding becomes available.
If the review finds that some are not heavily used, they could be re-deployed to areas of higher demand.
