Panto
A SHOW billed as Bradford's biggest amateur panto will be entertaining audiences over February half-term.
Sleeping Beauty - presented by Drama Unlimited, which has been producing pantos in the city since 1978 - features more than 100 spectacular costume changes; panto jokes and slapstick comedy; a large local cast; a score of 17 numbers spanning a range of musical eras and genres; dazzling sets and a touch of fairytale magic.
"We like to think we're the largest amateur pantomime in Bradford," said director Carl Murray. "A highlight of this production is a magical hedge of thorns which appears before the audience's eyes."
The panto will run at Bradford Playhouse. Carl, former artistic director of the Little Germany theatre, said: “Since leaving the Playhouse in the summer I've been working on a number of exciting projects, including filming for a major new Netflix series to be released in the autumn, but I'm delighted to be returning to direct this fantastic pantomime. We’ve worked hard to ensure this is a traditional panto, which will send children of all ages away with smiles on their faces. It's the ideal post-Christmas treat to give the children something to look forward to.”
* Sleeping Beauty runs from February 19-22. Visit bradfordplayhouse.org.uk or call (01274) 800415.
